Daniel (Dan) C. Murphy, Sr., 91, Bonner Springs, KS, died Monday, May 12, 2008 at his home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor, KS.  Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Basehor, KS.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, 4^th and Delaware, Tonganoxie, KS, where the Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Dan was born January 21, 1917 on the farm near Bonner Springs that was originally homesteaded by his grandfather, John Murphy, Sr., in 1865.  He spent his entire life farming, operating a dairy farm until 1985, then continuing with a cattle farm.  He attended Glenwood grade school and graduated from Tonganoxie Rural High School in 1934.  He married Blanche Klamet on September 16, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church, Bonner Springs, KS.  

He is survived by his wife, Blanche, of the home; three sons, Daniel Jr (Linda), Des Moines, IA, Richard, Bonner Springs, KS, Jim (Leila), Centennial, CO; four daughters, Janet (Barry) Turini, Kingswood, TX, Marilyn (John) Sullivan, Wuerzburg, Germany, Carol Westfall, Auburn, KS, Norene (Eric) Ryks, Bellevue, NE; his sister, Helen Murphy, Kansas City, KS; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
