Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Tonganoxie Christian Church, 204 Washington Street, Tonganoxie, KS.  The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Ron was born April 19, 1953, the son of Billy G. and Jo Ann Barnett Starcher.  He graduated from McLouth High School in 1971 and was a 1973 graduate of N.E. Kansas Technical School in Auto Collision Repair.  He was united in marriage to Vicki Walbridge on June 18, 1977 in McLouth, KS.  Ron was co-owner of S&S Body Shop, Tonganoxie for 35 years.  He worked alongside his brother at their full service bodyshop, which included towing and auto collision repair.  He soon became an ASE Certified Master Technician and began rebuilding cars by often cutting them in half and precisely putting them back together piece by piece.  His work was widely noticed at a young age and many referred to him as a perfectionist.  Not only in his line of work, but his personal life as well.  Ron enjoyed traveling to race events and car shows with his family and friends.  The most important thing in his life was the happiness of his girls and wife.  He was a loving father who was a mentor and idol and taught the both of them the importance of humor, honesty and the ability to be humble.  Ron recently took up the love of rebuilding bikes and enjoyed spending his weekends working in his garage and playing with his pride and joy, Baron “Hotrod” Dohrn.  Ron would just light up at the sight of Baron and referred to him as “perfect”.  Ron was deeply loved by all his family and friends and will be forever missed.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Starcher, of the home; two daughters, Leslie Dohrn and husband, Matt, and Lindsey Starcher; one brother, Jerry Starcher and wife, Melanie, all of Tonganoxie; one sister, Dixie Jones and husband, Mike, McLouth; one grandson, Baron Dohrn; and three nephews, Jerad Starcher, Tonganoxie, Colton and Kyle Jones, McLouth.
